- Feb. 1978, Christopher entered this world and began his artistic journey.

- Just like every other artist in the world, Christopher was interested in art as a child. He was always creatively creating something creative.

- In middle school, Christopher thought he had some artistic talent (his Grandma always told him so), but he struggled to get an "A" in any of his art classes. His art teachers just didn't share the Phelps artistic vision. However, Christopher did create some kick butt sock puppets in Home Economics class to compensate.

- High school art classes were a much different story. Heritage High School art teacher Mr. Metzler spent his winters inspiring Christopher to push artistic limits and he spent his summers surfing in Hawaii. Wanting to be like Metzler when he grew up, Christopher was enlivened by his time with the surfing art professor.

- Metzler guided Christopher towards Colorado State University and a degree in Graphic Design. First semester freshman year, Christopher signed up for Foundations of Painting and absolutely hated the class. The instructor was not interested in realism or economy / quality of brush stroke, just get it done fast. That was the last painting class Christopher ever took.

- Discouraged away from fine art, in 2002 Christopher founded Cherry Creek Design Group. For the next five years he went blind staring at the computer screen. While creating branding materials for many great small businesses was rewarding and filled his pockets, it wasn't enough physically, dexterously or creatively.

- In 2006 Christopher's brain was about to burst if he didn't start creating the paintings that were pilling up in his mind. So, once upon a time, in a land far away, Christopher burned an effigy for his collegiate painting professor, found some inspiration and put his brush to canvas.
